Empower Your Learning: Essential Smart & Skilled Policies and Information

We believe in transparency. Taking a few moments to look through these state-issued policies ensures you are fully informed about how your subsidised training works before you enrol.

Traineeships

Government funded training

Government subsidies are available to significantly reduce your training costs for New Entrant and School Based Trainees, while potential Payroll Tax Rebates helps offset your employment expenses to make staff development highly cost-effective.

  • New Entrant Traineeships

Are a formal training pathway used for new starters to gain practical skills and obtain a nationally recognised qualification while earning a salary.

  • School Based Traineeships

Any school student can be a School Based Trainee. There are no academic entry requirements, other than suitability for that vocation. They simply need a career goal and an employer who will give them a chance.

  • Payroll Tax Rebates (PTR)

PTRs are a partial refund of the payroll taxes you have paid on the wages of eligible trainees and apprentices during the period of time that they have been enrolled in a registered course.
