Published / 3 min readFor Chloe, a desire to gain real-world experience while completing high school was just the beginning of a rewarding Traineeship journey.
I wanted to apply for a School-Based Traineeship because I was looking for an opportunity to gain real-world experience while still completing my HSC. I was excited by the idea of learning practical business skills, working alongside professionals and getting a head start on my career. The chance to earn a nationally recognised qualification while gaining valuable workplace experience made it an opportunity I couldn't pass up.
Throughout her traineeship with Ritebuild Contracting, Chloe successfully completed her Certificate III in Business (BSB30120), developing practical skills in communication, organisation, teamwork and professionalism while applying her learning in a real world setting and professional workplace.
One of the most valuable skills I have learned is professional communication. Whether working with colleagues, clients or stakeholders, I learned how to communicate clearly, confidently and professionally. This has not only helped me in the workplace but has also improved my confidence in school, public speaking and future career opportunities.
Beyond the skills she developed, Chloe says Ritebuild 's supportive workplace culture played a significant role in her experience. Feeling welcomed, trusted and encouraged from day one gave her the confidence to step outside her comfort zone, grow in her roleÌý and make meaningful contributions to the team.
The biggest surprise was how welcoming and supportive everyone was. From my first day, I felt like a valued member of the team rather than just a student. I was trusted with meaningful responsibilities and encouraged to ask questions, learn new skills and contribute to the workplace. It showed me how much personal and professional growth can come from stepping outside your comfort zone.
The experience also gave Chloe a genuine understanding of what it means to work in a professional environment. By balancing school with workplace responsibilities, she developed the confidence, resilience and work ethic needed to take the next step in her career.
I definitely feel ready, and cannot wait to join the workforce. Before starting the traineeship, I had limited understanding of what working in a professional environment was really like. Through this experience, I have developed practical skills, confidence and a strong work ethic. I now understand the importance of teamwork, communication, professionalism and accountability, which has made me feel far more prepared for future employment opportunities.
When asked what advice she would give to students considering a School-Based Traineeship, Chloe doesn't hesitate to encourage others to take the opportunity.
ÌýI would absolutely encourage them to apply. A School-Based Traineeship gives you the unique opportunity to gain real workplace experience, build valuable skills and earn a qualification while still at school. It helps you discover potential career pathways, grow in confidence and stand out to future employers.
Throughout her traineeship, Chloe approached every opportunity with enthusiasm, professionalism and a genuine willingness to learn. Her positive attitude and commitment to developing her skills allowed her to make the most of every experience, while building strong relationships with those around her.'
We are incredibly proud of Chloe's dedication, growth and achievements throughout her traineeship. Congratulations, Chloe, on this well-deserved milestone. We look forward to seeing where your journey takes you next.
